When Jesus instituted communion at the last supper, He spoke of the covenant which comes through His blood for the remission of sin. Using the same phraseology, Peter instructs the crowd of the day of Pentecost to repent and be baptized for the remission of their sins, showing how Jesus’ blood is applied to a believer’s life. How is Jesus’ blood applied to our sin through baptism? Is it merely an outward sign of an inward change (as some teachers claim) or does it somehow inaugurate our saving relationship with Jesus Christ?
