The whole world has been infected with a killer virus with a peculiar symptom: the loss of ability to smell and taste. Even those who recover are often still plagued with distorted senses, with once-pleasant flavors perceived as foul and bitter. Throughout the Bible, a whole sacrifice is described as a sweet-smelling aroma. Yet Paul tells us that the fragrance of the cross smells like life to some, but death to others. We must offer the acceptable sacrifice and exercise our senses to discern the fragrance of life, lest we succumb to apathy, and the salt lose its savor.
