Repentance and salvation are beyond reach for those attempting to keep their ego intact. Only by coming to God with a broken and contrite spirit do we find acceptance and grace. We desperately try to maintain our image because we are afraid of failure, yet this manifestation of insecurity is sure proof that we know our fleshly efforts to meet God’s requirements will fail. Acknowledging our weakness and positing all our hope in Jesus is the only source of security available.
