The gospel of Matthew describes the path of salvation as “straight” and very narrow. The “straits” through which we enter the kingdom require a squeezing and cutting in order for us to fit through. As in the story where Solomon judged between the two mothers, the determining factor was a sword. The sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, severs the perspectives and dominion of the flesh, while allowing the purpose of God to live.
