Jesus said He came to speak only what the Father gave Him to speak, when He gave Him to speak it and how He wanted Him to speak it. This necessitates continual reliance on the motivation of God’s Spirit. Too often we look for principles and formulas to replace our need for God’s inspiration. Yet Paul said, “The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life,” indicating that a ministry based on fleshly principles will produce death. By begging God to shed His love in our hearts, we are changed from murderers to fountains of life—pouring God’s love into every life we contact.
